Official rules

The rules, in plain English

Everything that governs the scholarship — eligibility, dates, selection, payment, and your rights as an applicant.

These official rules govern the Pelican Family Office Scholarship (the "Scholarship"), sponsored and administered by Pelican Family Office (Pelican Advisory LLC) of Covington, LA (the "Sponsor"). By submitting an application, you agree to these rules.

1. No cost to apply

Applying is free. No purchase, payment, donation, or client relationship with the Sponsor is required to apply or to win, and none is considered in selection. Applying does not create an advisory or client relationship with the Sponsor.

2. Eligibility

  • Open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at a U.S.-based accredited college or university at the time of application, in any field of study.
  • There is no minimum GPA and no essay requirement.
  • Employees of the Sponsor and members of their immediate households are not eligible.
  • Applicants must be able to document current enrollment (or admission for the term in which the award is paid) if selected.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

3. Key dates

  • Application deadline: January 15, 2027
  • Winner announcement: February 10, 2027

One application per person per cycle. Applications received after the deadline are not considered.

4. How to apply

Applications are submitted through the form linked on the apply page. The scholarship will also be listed on Bold.org. Applicants who need an accessible or alternative submission method may request one at scholarship@pelicanfamilyofficescholarship.com before the deadline; accommodation requests do not affect selection.

5. Selection

One recipient is selected from all eligible, complete applications received by the deadline. Because the Scholarship has no essay and no academic cutoff, selection does not score or rank applicants; the recipient is selected by the Sponsor's scholarship administrators under a uniform process applied equally to all eligible applications. The Sponsor's determination of eligibility and selection is final.

6. Notification, verification, and payment

  • The selected applicant is contacted using the details in their application.
  • Before payment, the Sponsor verifies the recipient's enrollment with their college or university. If eligibility cannot be verified, or the recipient does not respond within a reasonable time stated in the notification, an alternate may be selected.
  • The award is $1,000, paid as described in the notification (typically to the recipient or their institution for educational expenses).

7. Taxes

Scholarship awards may be taxable to the recipient depending on how the funds are used under U.S. tax law. The recipient is responsible for any tax consequences, and the Sponsor does not provide tax advice through this program.

8. Publicity

The recipient's name is announced on the winners page only with their consent. Winner publicity (name, school, photo, quote) is optional and covered by a consent the recipient signs before anything is published. Declining publicity does not affect the award.

9. Applicant information

Application data is used to administer the Scholarship as described in the applicant privacy notice — including what is collected, how long it is kept, and how to request deletion.

10. General terms

  • The Sponsor may disqualify applications that are incomplete, duplicative, fraudulent, or submitted by ineligible persons.
  • If the Scholarship cannot run as described due to circumstances outside the Sponsor's control, the Sponsor may adjust dates with notice on this website.
  • These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana.
